Located a stone's throw from Camping de La Baie, on the edge of the coastal path, the salt marshes of Kervillen are a protected natural area, open to the public. The site is home to remarkable flora and fauna. It allows the observation in a natural environment, many birds of the Breton coast: terns, waders, ducks, moorhens nest in peace on the islets formed by the activity of the saltworks.

The history of the salt marshes

After two centuries of existence, the salt marshes of Kervillen had been unexploited for sixty years and left abandoned.
In 1980, the General Council of Morbihan bought the salt works. The site became a sensitive natural space and in 2010, the rehabilitation of the marshes began.

After two years of major restoration work, the salt production activity in Kervillen is resuming.
Present from the start of the project, Damien Phélip, former salt worker from Guérande, is responsible for the exploitation of "salt from La Trinité sur Mer", the marketing of which began on 1st of August 2014.
